Can someone please help me gather all the tumbleweed that appears to be blowing through? - I think there must be one of those Desert Winds or other hot air currents blowing through!

I expect we will all find our cars buried in sand or other building materials before long if this keeps up!

I think one of the moderators should ban this thread.

Why? Is it not a valid point of view to say that the site doesn't seem to be getting much traffic at the moment? Perhaps its the influence of the One Way System in the Triangle?

Yes vn only really comes alive when there is a hot topic to discuss imo. But instead we have the unwelcome return of heavy moderation and threads closed the minute they get 'heated' (ie interesting).
Its a shame.

Alas, history has a habit of repeating itself;

What is this, Revenge of the Grumpy Old Men? At least Green Man has a sense of humour.

Nanazola, your post made me nearly spill my cup of tea over my Daily Telegraph. Instead it's gone all over my slippers. Pah!

Never mind, I see claudia is doing her best to drum up a bit of news in her "new openings" post. We should have a sweepstake as to how many minutes it is before all of the following points are made on it:

1) it won't last, business is dead since the OWS.
2) is will all be for nothing if the M2 destroys our town centre.
3) as long as they don't have pink shutters.
4) bet it'll be another estate agents.
5) hope it's a Waitrose or an M&S simply food.
6) bring back Pillow Talk.

Toast is burning, I'd better go and sort it out now, he says stroking his favourite Persian and putting more coals on the fire.

OK so if it was tongue in cheek then I apologise for being oversensitive GM, but with recent events it wouldn't surprise me if someone did want to close this discussion!
And thanks Fang for your encyclopaedic knowledge of the VN archives!!!

Indeed Fang - it feels exactly like then.
I note post #5 in that thread, a little ironic as history seems to have repeated itself.

The recent trend for VN has been for rapid thread expansion which is then thought unsustainable and damaging by the powers that be leading to fears of a Virtual Norwood collapse. Premature and unnecessary intervention by the Moderating team is followed by swift decline and boredom by its consumers. And so the cycle continues.

Reminds me of a great thread about green products in the early days which lead to many members of the forum leaving never to return. Anyone remember Gipsy Queen?

Presumably this is the VN equivalent of Godwin's Law?
