Have just been to the park to walk the puppy and come across hundreds of minis parked at the top end of the park- tried to ask the question but the gentleman I spoke to was French and was bemused that I did'nt know what was happening in my back garden - he had come all this way to take part in the rally but, as usual, nothing on this forum to flag up this event -I think we had the same problem last year - maybe something to do with this forum being run from outer space.......

Nope - it's very much run from Crystal Palace. Problem is that messages just don't get passed around. If someone on here owned a mini, I'm sure we'd have found out about it!

Don't you think that it's the organisers job to advertise their event rather than a forum of locals? I couldn't be less bothered by hundreds of cars stinking up the park. Obviously I'm not the only one. If you are so into it, maybe you should go onto a Mini-Forum, surely they will keep you informed about their amazing events...

Yep terrible all those well behaved people enjoying a jovial atmosphere on the top terrace taking up valuable room from the local crowd playing swing from the tree branches with their loveable dogs.

Thanks god all those stinking cars and people who have travelled miles to come here will be gone tomorrow.

I remember the car rallies at CP park from years ago, along with the off road bike rallies (bikes as opposed to motorbikes) and the long gone musical events at the bowl. I am hugely for the park being used for any such events.

So its fine to be condescending to a new person who quite rightly asked why a local forum missed what is annual event that brings people to the area goes unnoticed on here then.

Welcome to the forum Maggie, just be careful what you ask next time ;)

darn darn darn!
I love the Mini rally and only just read about it ...a day late.
CP Park is our centrepoint in this community - we are all involved in trying to find the best way to improve it and help it better meet our needs. There should be a calendar of Park events here, not waiting for organisers to stumble across our site (when they have plenty to do to get their event happening). Where does that exist? Can we link in to it? Bromley might find the local community more supportive if they made sure we knew what is happening in the Park on a regular basis.

I was replying to your sarcastic post Norwood Lad - can't see anything helpful there for a new user myself.

those effing minis! I liked seeing them all arrive yesterday but I tried to get to Bromley at 10am this morning - anerley hill was bumper to bumper with hundreds of minis! I turned round, tried to get through penge, but obviously everyone had the same idea as me because it was also packed. I ended up coming home  the stewards at the park entrance were letting out about 20 minis at a time. They should have been made to leave at like 7am before anyone was about. Grrr.

Being stuck behind them must have been a mare, but it was great fun sitting in the White Hart window and watching the minis motoring past yesterday - despite being a non driver these days it made me yearn for my old mini cooper :hugkiss:

Watched them in the park this morning just before we started bootcamp. It was great seeing the new fancy minis next to some real old bangers. Some looked like they wouldn't make it to the end of the road, let alone to Brighton. One was being given a push start in the park .

I too was a little surprised to see something going on at the top of the park - from a distance I thought perhaps it was a funfair, but those are usually very well advertised. Then maybe it was the racing - but that's a couple of weekends away (and also well advertised?)

Anyway.. it would have been nice to know it was there, then I would have made plans to visit as it looked fun :) Claudia - Penge High Street looked ok around 10.30am - usual Sunday traffic. Quite probably didn't help having those damn roadworks back outside Homebase!

Unless everyone bought their own food, booze, or bought on-site, I'd imagine it bought some extra trade to the bars, restaurants and shops of the triangle over the weekend. Which is a good thing, right?

SL - I remember the car rallies and concerts at the (old) bowl too - I'm sure my parents took me to one of the the last GLC fireworks/concerts way back when..
