naff or not I rather like using my real name, I'm sort of attached to it and it identifies me, like everybody that sees Anthony knows that it is me or at least I know that it is me. Not to mention of course the deeper meanings of hiding behind things, without starting a confession thread. (oooooh)

I must admit I had always wondered about the reasoning behind the user name Fungigirl :o)

And I always thought Nanazola was a grandma named Zola! :D

So, some of us use our own names, some of use nick names, some of us use our imaginations and some of us use our pet's names. (I like that Sylvester and wish I'd thought of it as I could have been posting as Sir Jeffrey, Fat Boy or Kate Moss).

Still interested to find out what's behind the monikers; note to all who post under their own name, there's no need to explain unless for example you post under the name Julie and are in fact really a man called Horse!

At the time of creating my I was worried about the security risks of personal info on internet forums, and thought it would be good practice to make up a unique user name that could be used on other sites (ie not already taken).
So Axean is just a randomly thought up word

Turned out Axean wasn't as unique a word as I thought it would be! Not that worried about internet security now, but I guess it still would be useful to create a unique user name you could carry over to different web sites.

Mine is from De Niro's character Rupert Pupkin in the King of Comedy, one of my all time faves.

Cant remember where redbunny came from let alone the 23! But I am a mrs rabbit and my maiden name was pure filth so couldnt use it on some websites and the anonymity (sp? Its early!) stuck.

And I do carry it over different sites with no trouble.

Mine's because I have a tattoo of a Fly Agaric mushroom. :D

And a rather splendid mushroom it is too.( I used to be more of a Liberty Cap man myself) :D

Hermit- as the dictionary puts it- n.person living in solitude, alone, not frequented, a recluse.

Oh dear, that makes me sound a bit sad! Not all true though! ;)

More of a CP Hermit really, apart from work, rarely leave the area and have to be dragged away kicking and screaming if i am taken away from my beloved triangle for an evening out and have more than a five minute walk home.

I'm a girl and I like guineapigs, so it seems to suit me.

It is similar but not identical to the name I use on instant messenger and Twitter too. I do like the degree of anonymity the name gives me...I agree lots of the other names are very intriguing and I often wonder as I walk through the Triangle if I am inadvertently passing a VN person without realising!

So some of us apply more thought and research to their monker, others take inspiration from lifestyle, films or small furry animals. Think I have enough intel to start a chart! Just for fun you understand and to see what our user names say about the sort of a forum we are

Animals that have inspired user names so far are:
1) cats Sylvester
2) rabbits Redbunny23
3) guinea pigs Guineagirl

Film characters:
1) Rupert Pupkin/ King of Comdey pupkin

TV characters:
1) Woolfie Smith/ Citizen Smith citizen M

Food products:
1) fancy mushrooms Fungigirl

Writers:
1) Emile Zola Nanazola

Places:
Crystal Palace Summit Lover
West Norwood St. Lukes railings

Now there's still a load more user names that need to be submitted to this thread, do keep them coming :D

Reckon you could be on to something with the rat and the lad Charlie but doowron is more likely related to dooronw as they are norwood and w norwood spelt backwards

Errr.... I guess I am just me!

Perhaps not - I hate my real name - Joseph.
Even more embarrassing to me is when I lived in Upper Norwood I was known as "Joey"

Joey was a a popular name for a Budgie in the 60's!
