can only think of a handful of french films - and none of them seem to fit that clue - so I'm out the game on that one

here's 10 mainstream musicals (films) to run alongside? (no of words in brackets)

Colour of the White Hart + what the doctor asks you to say (1)
Simon Whitlock (4) - (wiki will bound to give you the answer if youre unfamiliar with darts)
Tale from the Orient - quite the opposite (3)
State (1)
Double Note explosion (4)
For Bear Grylls coffee table (2)
Easy to spot (3 or 5) [only has 3 songs in it apparently]
What goes around, comes around (1)
Ritchies and Partons (3)
Used to be trendy (1)

I see my french film is posing a problem I knew I should have put up my Albanian one. To help it was remade as a US film with a translated title that implies an asthmatics problem.

Now onto Chewys

9 = Guys and Dolls

I'll think of the rest later.

Some of mine maybe films with songs in, like say Pinnochio - as opposed to a standard musical where the girls lift their frocks and vent their lungs kinda thang

I know there's still two to go but seeing as how I nailed 7 (PCA is guilty of the Guys & Dolls answer) I'll set another clue. Film (not musical). 6 words:

1) 3 letters 2) connects talk & friend 3) accompanied 4)3 letters 5) short 16/17C musket. 7) musical summons

Nice one - all right except the last - the 2 missing are disney films with songs in - so not musicals in the strictest sense -- going for the girl with the pearl earring for your clue? - not sure though

nope - its dragon tattoo - of course

Dearest Chew, I am in need much more to go on if you is gonna stick to the cryptic style of clue. Remember there's a zillion titles out there so perhaps it be a good idea to add genre if the clue's obscure. Otherwise at this rate you'll be playing with yourself :) :D
